Six Things to do in Winter Garden on a Saturday

Winter Garden is such a neat little gem of a town. I first fell in love with the community when I went on a bike ride through the neighborhoods. It was love at first sight. And now three years later, I’ve truly enjoyed living here and have taken advantage of all the amenities it has to offer. The weekends in this place are truly special and good for exploration especially on a Saturday. Here are six things you can do in Winter Garden on a Saturday.

Attend a Saturday morning program or learn a new skill at the Winter Garden Branch Library

Winter Garden Library

The Orange County Library System offers a plethora of programs at no cost to the public and the Winter Garden branch doesn’t lack in this area. Each Saturday different programs are offered for all-ages, so it is worth checking out. You can also learn a new skill by registering for one of their technology classes. Class subjects range from photography to Excel. Log on to ocls.info to get a full schedule of events. I promise you that it will be time well spent.

Explore the West Orange Trail by bicycle

The bike ride I took three years ago was on this trail. It was also the bike ride that made me choose Winter Garden as my home. This is a great way to spend a Saturday morning. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and serene. The trail itself extends 24 miles. All they way to Apopka, FL. I have not ridden all 24 miles yet, however in the 10 miles I covered you do see a lot. If you don’t own a bicycle, you can rent them for $7 per hour for a basic bicycle. Peruse the Winter Garden Farmer’s Market

Held every Saturday from 9am-2pm at the Downtown Winter Garden Pavillon, you can get the freshest produce here. There are also a number of excellent vendors you can shop with for specialty goods and foods. There’s even entertainment for when you buy a crepe or an ice cream cone from the soft serve ice cream truck you can sit and enjoy. If you desire to shop for produce I highly recommend that you bring cash as the main vendor doesn’t accept credit cards. Check out wintergardenfarmersmarket.com for more information.

There are some really neat stores on the Plant Street Strip. A few adorable boutiques, Adjectives Market which is a house wares store, and a nice assortment of food options and bars.

Visit Plant Street Market

Winter Garden’s food hall and artisan space is what best describes this place. I recently visited and discovered a little donut shop inside, which I will definitely be back for. Another favorite spot of mine is Press’d Juice. I usually get the Thai Curry Wrap but on my last visit I gave their Vegan Chili Nachos a try. They don’t disappoint. Additionally, they have events in the space too such as morning Yoga. This is a great place worth spending some time in.

Stop at Newton Park for some quiet time

After you’ve done all of the above, Newton Park would provide a nice break in your day. Located less than 5 minutes from Downtown Winter Garden area, Newton Park sits on Lake Apopka. It’s one the quieter parks I’ve actually been to in the area. The view is stunning and is brimming with wildlife.

I hope you consider visiting Winter Garden on a Saturday. I know you’ll enjoy it.

  1. I love living in downtown Winter Garden. The bike trail, the farmers market, the splashpad, the restaurants, the ice cream shop, the community members. I love it all!

  2. Winter Garden dues not get nearly the amount of love that it should. Plant Street has a variety of food, shopping, entertainment and theater all within a decent walk. I love the yearly plant show. It’s a great time to purchase plants of you have a green thumb or not. The West Orange Bike Trail is the best because of the views and it has hills! Lastly my favorite little gem is the Attic Door. Nice drinks. Very comfy. Live music. Very laid back. I love this place! Good article on Winter Garden.
